Dr. Stefanie Schindler studied veterinary medicine at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen from 1991-1997. In 2000, she started her doctoral studies at the University of Konstanz in the Working Group of Thomas Hartung, developing and validating a novel non-animal testing method, the MAT (Monocyte Activation Test). She concluded in 2006 with 2 doctoral theses.
In 2008, she joined Animalfree Research, an NGO based in Zurich, further focusing on 3R-relevant methods (development and implementation). Since 2025, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the NRP 79 “Linking animal and human welfare – refining rodent euthanasia” led and supervised by Prof. Sonja Hartnack.
