I’m Ugandan and I grew up in Kampala.
I completed a bachelor’s degree in medicine and a bachelor’s degree in surgery from Makerere University. I then did a master’s degree in public health from King’s College London. My master’s thesis supervised by Prof. Martin Gulliford (King’s college London) and Prof. Halvor Sommerfelt (University of Bergen, Norway) involved the profiling of infant mortality in HIV-exposed but uninfected infants in Uganda. My professional experience has been mainly working with Prof. Victoria Nankabirwa at Makerere University on the BCG vaccine clinical trial, the Chlorhexidine clinical trial , and the Gates MRI TBV02-E01 vaccine trials. My PhD under the supervision of Dr. Anou Dreyfus will involve the exploration of the role of leptospirosis and rickettsiosis in acute undifferentiated fever patients in a Ugandan tertiary level hospital.
