Dr Rasmussen is an economist and veterinary epidemiologist interested in production animal pathogens, their economic impact and policy implications, animal health economics, agricultural economics, zoonotic diseases, and public health policy. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Lethbridge, Canada in 2014, and his master’s degree in in economics from the University of Calgary, Canada in 2016. His PhD is from the University of Calgary, Department of Ecosystem and Public Health. His PhD research used Markov chain Monte Carlo methods to estimate the economic impact of Johne’s disease (paratuberculosis) and potential control practices in dairy cattle across major dairy-producing regions. At Calgary he was also a co-instructor of an introductory One Health course. He has joined the Veterinary Epidemiology from Februaray 2021 to work as a post doctoral fellow on the GBADs project.
