A funded opportunity for graduate study in Epidemiology/Modeling focused on food safety and the beef production system is available at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. The project will focus on the epidemiology and ecology of Escherichia coli transmission in the feedlot production system explicitly accounting for animal contact patterns. In collaboration with faculty and graduate students at North Carolina State University, the model will integrate newly generated research knowledge regarding cattle contact patterns and Escherichia coli transmission to better understand pre-harvest dynamics and identify potentially valuable intervention points. Applicants must possess at minimum a DVM or a master’s degree by the start date and qualify for admission to the Graduate School at Kansas State University. Background training and interest in quantitative skills is highly preferred. The position will lead to a PhD degree with a focus on food safety, disease modeling and epidemiology.

The position is available starting in January 2016. Start date may be delayed until May 2016 for exceptional candidates.
