Subject to change, we expect to run an in-person program on the University of Maine campus in 2022.&amp;nbsp; Our fully paid summer program will focus on Accelerating New Environmental Workskills (REU ANEW). From June 6 to August 12, 2022, we will invite 10 motivated undergraduate students to join our faculty and graduate students to conduct cutting-edge research at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.</p>]]></description>

Participants will learn about the theory of Bayes&amp;rsquo; theorem, probability distributions, prior distributions, and introduction to simulation and Markov-chain Monte Carlo methods for simulating priors and posteriors, and how they can be applied for estimation of diagnostic test sensitivity and specificity when tests are imperfect, and a reference test is not available.</p>]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[<p>Animal health has major impacts on human health directly through zoonotic disease transmission, or indirectly through nutritional availability and environmental management. For human health, the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study has created a comprehensive dataset of diseases, injuries, and risk factors that is used to measure epidemiological levels and trends worldwide. A project to collect an equivalent dataset for animal diseases is being planned.</p>]]></description>

Duriya is a young veterinary professional that has obtained her BVSc at the Kazakh National Agrarian University (2011-2016) with a possibility to study meanwhile as a grantee at Wageningen University.</p>]]></description>
